# Trucking TMS ROI calculator

The trucking TMS ROI calculator models a labor-time scenario using your own assumptions. It is not a forecast, a vendor quote, or a RunaboutX performance claim. RunaboutX is available to fleets. Use the calculator to model your own workload, then compare the scenario with measurements from your operation.

## Enter your assumptions

The interactive page asks for weekly load volume, current admin minutes per load, loaded hourly labor cost, an assumed share of time saved, and estimated annual software cost. Its starting values are an editable example, not observed fleet data. Select USD or CAD to label the inputs and outputs; switching currency changes the display only and does not convert exchange rates.

## How the model calculates results

- **Current annual admin hours** = loads per week × current admin minutes per load × 52 ÷ 60.
- **Modeled hours saved** = current annual admin hours × assumed share of time saved ÷ 100.
- **Gross labor value** = modeled hours saved × loaded hourly labor cost.
- **Net value after software cost** = gross labor value − estimated annual software cost.
- **Simple payback in months** = estimated annual software cost ÷ (gross labor value ÷ 12), when gross labor value is above zero. Otherwise the page displays “Not reached.”

The model assumes 52 similar weeks and that each modeled saved hour has the entered labor value. It excludes implementation, training, integration, quality, revenue, taxes, and other costs or benefits. Time saved does not automatically become cash savings or a reduction in payroll. Validate the input workload against actual loads and test the exact process a vendor says it can change.

Use the [fleet operations metrics guide](/resources/learn/fleet-operations-metrics/) to establish a baseline and the [trucking TMS buyer's guide](/resources/guides/trucking-tms-buyers-guide/) to test claims.
